ABOUT ELISE
HI, I’M ELISE! I’M A FIBER/ARTIST AND KNIT DESIGNER currently based IN oakland, CA.
I grew up surrounded by many extremely talented fiber artists and I am therefore fascinated and inspired by the intersection of "women's work" (women's traditional crafts) and fine art. THE GOAL OF MY PRACTICE IS TO COMMUNICATE THE INTRINSIC ARTISTIC VALUE OF FIBERCRAFT, AND Through fibercraft tO EXPLORE THE PATRIARCHAL society that controls what is valued intrinsically as art.
My knit designs are inspired by fashion, art, architecture, pop culture, and other values centered around slow fashion/living such as anti-consumerism and eco-friendliness.
I am passionate about the beauty and benefits of a slow, handmade life, divesting from fast fashion, re-evaluating a relationship with consumerism, and reconnecting with nature. I am passionate about social justice, equity, and inclusion.
i love plants, reading, food and cooking, and spending time with my husband. i watch a lot of reality tv while knitting and am a certified housewives scholar™! i am interested in discussing witchcraft, cheese fries, and r&B/soul music any time.
